In 2022 the WWF-New Zealand worked with over 160 artists to make an art trail consisting of unique whale Tail sculptures, sponsored by business and organisations. Inspired by the Bryde’s Whale, the 80 Big Broos (large Tail sculptures) and 80 Pēpi (mini Tail sculptures) dotted Auckland’s streets, parks, and open spaces to provide residents and visitors a fresh opportunity to explore the City of Sails. The legacy of Whale Tail's continues long after the trail ends. The sculptures will be auctioned to raise funds for WWF-New Zealand's vital work to protect and restore the Hauraki Gulf and the Bryde’s whales that call it home.
